Tabata Thursday - WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE'S ON VACATION?

IT IS THAT TIME AGAIN! A RECAP OF MY FAVORITE NEW CLASS!

It seems that I have made Tabata a habit.. not just a habit.. it's kind of a love affair.
I keep going back to see what we're doing! And it makes me just.. SO STINKING EXCITED.
All levels of Fitness Geek go to this class, and I love how we all inspire each other to keep going!
Once again Tabta is a HIIT class (High Intensity Interval Training). Participants go through 7 different stations, 2 exercises per station. Each exercise is 20 seconds long, with 10 second breaks. Each station gets 4 repetitions of the 2 exercises. It's about 4 minutes for each station, and then you get a 2 minute break between stations. 

Now today was a little different. . . . Our instructor, John, is on vacation.. he is on a TWO WEEK CRUISE. What the What? I have a 14 day body/mind reset going on here... I NEED THIS CLASS... But, there was a lady who was taking over the class... A Subatatructor (Substitute Tabata Instructor, yes I am that nuts)


And this is how the class went!

The one great thing about our instructor John, is that Tabata to him involves... PROPS. From the barbells, to the PVC pipes, to the TRX.. He uses what is around, and makes it work for us.

This chick, well, she did a normal Tabata workout. Floor mat, 2 sets of dumbbells, resistance band (just as a visual aid).. and that's it.

We started with Warm Up Laps around the lesson room. Probably did about 10 of them, before she started the first round.

ROUND 1:
Jumping Jacks
Squats
Side Steps in Squat position
Alternating Leg Lunges

20 seconds on, 10 seconds off... we did this for 4 reps.

ROUND 2:
Alternating Dumbbell Presses
Running Laps
Push ups

20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off.. we did this for 4 reps.

ROUND 3:
Jumping Jacks
Squats
Side Steps in Squat position
Alternating Leg Lunges

20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off.. we did this for 4 reps.

ROUND 4: 
Mountain Climbers
Bicep Curls

20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off.. we did this for 4 reps.

ROUND 5:
High Legs
Bent Alternating Rows
Kick Butts

20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off.. we did this for 4 reps.
ROUND 6: 
Leg Scissors
Right Side Plank

20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off.. we did this for 4 reps.

ROUND 7: 
Bicycle Crunches
Left Side Plank

20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off.. we did this for 4 reps.

We cooled down with stretching, and deep breathing. 

Now as you can tell.. this was a very Cardio filled Tabata class, with mild weight training.
It kept you moving. I was sweaty.. I didn't really feel like I accomplished as much.. It's something about LIFTING heavy ropes, PVC pipes, and suspending yourself on the TRX.. that just makes it...
WORTH IT.

But, they say when you change up the activity... It works better for you.
DOUBLE BUT, If our instructor isn't back by next week, I'm swimming out to open waters to find this man on his CRUISE. Going on vacation.. HOW DARE HE! Haha.

AND, I am not going to let this past BINGE part of the week get me down.
I am on to a HEALTHIER, STRONGER and FASTER me over the next 14 days.
