We woke up on Tuesday - and got Emry on the bus, together, as a family.
Our intention was to go horseback riding - unfortunately, the groupon was being stupid, so we had to figure out something else to do!
We hung around the house for a bit... bouncing ideas back and forth - Finally, we came up with it:
LETS GO TO THE MOVIES!
We picked the noon showing of Annabelle, and decided what better way to see a horror movie, than with MOVIE SNACKS.
Now - we didn't go super crazy and get the JUMBO popcorn. However, Klay got the pretzel bites with cheese, and I got the cream cheese filled Jalapeno Poppers with BBQ dipping sauce. SO yum - oh, and to combat the savory - a MOVIE SIZED Reese's Pieces.
Going to the movies in the middle of the day is a super score, by the way: Our tickets + Snacks = Less than $40. Where as if we saw an evening viewing it would have been closer to $60. So - saving money? Yup! Give me some of that!
Annabelle was - okay. Now, if you aren't a horror movie junkie (like we are - the good, the bad, the scary, and the laughable - they are ALL watched by us), the Annabelle story comes from the movie the Conjuring. The Conjuring and the doll Annabelle are based on True Events.
Ed & Lorraine Warren are awesome sauce - and are one of the very few LEGIT people in paranormal studies. Just saying.
However, the director/producer/writer - took the Annabelle story into the realm of fiction. Took basic facts about the doll and the true story - and mixed it with a bunch of fanfare.
That I was not so pleased with.
But, still, to be truthful - the original Annabelle - was a RAGGEDY ANNIE DOLL. So, I suppose creative liberties had to be taken...
The movie had some scary moments - I did yell out a couple of times.
The overall ending was - meh - but tied it in so you could watch Annabelle and then the Conjuring - and completely understand what was going on.
We had a freaking blast!
Our plan after that - was to go to all you could eat Indian Lunch Buffet. But, that didn't happen. Our stomachs where not geared to intake Pretzel Bites, Poppers and Reese's pieces. We were ABSOLUTELY FULL.
We decided to go pick up Emry from school at regular pickup - and to come home, take him to karate, and for me to make dinner.
What did I make?
I made Chicken Tikka Masala Stuffed Potato Skins, with a side salad.
It's obvious that I was sad about not going to the buffet - so I had to get some Indian spices into my dinner. Can you blame me?
We then watched AWFUL TV - Vegged out on the couch - And went to bed!
I know- a totally simple day.
And we loved every minute of it.
It was nice to just be together - for an entire day - mostly uninterrupted. It's something we do not get often.
